The Hyde Park Blast was the first event in the city to go green on a large-scale with the Go Hard, Go Green! Campaign, and is used as a best practice green event model for Hamilton County.
Components of Go Hard, Go Green! include:
- Duke Energy's hybrid car will be the lead pace car for the 4-mile RRCA and USATF Championship run/walk as well as all the cycling races
- The PuR Water Filtration brand and the Boy Scouts will provide a biodegradable, filled and chilled, reusable water bottle for all run/walk race participants. They can be refilled at the PuR water filtration filling stations.
- Event-wide recycling program supported by Turner Construction and the Boy Scouts
- Recycled/reusable participant race bags and organic fruit from bigg's
- Eliminating all printed entry forms and encouraging participants to register online
- Using recycled paper for extra print materials
- “Plant-able” race numbers thanks to Duke Energy and the Running Spot
- Mobile technology from Buzz360 and The End Result will provide run/walk race participants with live results, race updates and promotions on their cell phone or email and eliminate thousands of print coupons from sponsors
- Children’s coloring book focused on Cincinnati Parks and green efforts
Participating partners include PuR Water Filtration, Turner Construction, Duke Energy, bigg's, Boy Scouts, Cincinnati Parks Board and Hamilton County Commissioner's Office.
